Birth Rape.. (click through for article) Birth rape refers to the violation of a woman’s wants and rights during the birth process. This can mean unwanted c-sections, general anesthesia, and things of that sort.  What I don’t understand is the connotation behind it. I understand that it is a violation of the mother’s rights, but the doctor’s decision isn’t to harm the child or mother in anyway, but rather to make sure the birthing process is safe for everyone.  Is this all just a result of miscommunication? Misunderstanding? What should be done to fix this, how can we recreate the bond between a physician and a patient once this boundary is violated?
